Arnoldia Vol 1(24) 1965 KERR M.A. The age at sexual maturity in male Impala. 1-6p

The relationship between body weight and testis weight in male Impala (Apyceros melampus) was significant. There was no significant difference between the weight of the left or right testis. A simple smear technique for assessing reproductive condition is described. The results indicate that the yearling ram is physiologically capable of fertilization from approximately 13 months of age. A marked increase in adult testis weight was observed a few months prior to the rutting.
